IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE:
Due to the anticipated severe heat index for the weekend of July 22-24 and our commitment to individual health and our air quality, Dream Ride’s Race Across Lancaster is being rescheduled to Saturday July 30 and Sunday July 31.
EVENT RIDE FORMAT:
As ALL Dream Ride Lancaster ride events are formatted as “CAR FREE”, and “Ride Local, Give Local” we are encouraging participants to ride to the designated start locations.
Start Locations will announced Wednesday July 20 at 9:11AM.
The “Race” Courses are entirely on the PA State Bicycle Routes S (Saturday July 30) and J (Sunday July 31) using the Lancaster County Bicycle Map as your official cue sheet.
The format is “self-contained” and “individual time trial” with an “out & back” sequence for both Courses.
Saturday’s Event Ride will have only one Start-Finish location, while Sunday’s Event Ride will have two Start-Finish Locations
The PA State Bicycle Route S enters Lancaster County at Columbia Borough and Morgantown.
The PA State Bicycle Route J enters Lancaster County at Elizabethtown Borough and actually ends in Lancaster City.
Saturday’s Event Ride will officially start at 9:11AM with participants departing at 2:00 minute intervals.
Sunday’s Event Ride will officially start at 9:11 AM with participants departing at 2:00 minute intervals.
Dream Ride Lancaster has been re-organized and is now a fund- raiser specifically for Dream Ride Projects and its selected “Partners”.
Dream Ride Lancaster now consists of a series of rides throughout the Calendar Year that focus on fundraising and creating awareness for the new ‘Projects’ of the organization and specific partner organizations for each ride with a fund raising goal of $23,000 to commemorate our 23rd year anniversary.
The following “Event Rides” are scheduled for 2016 and more details for each “Event Ride” will be posted in the upcoming days/weeks as we roll out our new Vision for Dream Ride Projects.
Dream Ride for AIDS – Monthly Rides each 5th day of the month to commemorate our first ‘project’, and support the Betty Finney House HIV/AIDS Memorial Garden.
Dream Ride’s Longest Day – Saturday June 18 beginning at 5:36 AM, Dream Ride Founder Mike “The Bike” Ridgeway will be riding from sun up to sun down on selected bicycle routes including the 20-mile route of the Cycle the Solstice event, supporting the Horn Farm Education Center.
Dream Ride’s Race Across Lancaster – Saturday July 30 & Sunday July 31 beginning at 9:11AM to support Dream Ride Projects and the League of American Bicyclists Bicycle Friendly America Program. Dream Ride Ultra Cycling Team will be hosting.
Dream Ride’s Tour de Lancaster – July 5-7 beginning at 9:11AM EACH DAY. This is a team event with Dream Ride Ultra Cycling Team presenting and participating. Supports Dream Ride Projects and Lancaster Central Market. In the tradition of the Famous Tour de France teams will race against the clock along three stages of Lancaster’s Infamous Nightmare Tour route. Time Credits for donations. Teams of up to four riders including one solo participant.
2016 Nightmare Tour – Saturday August 13. Dream Ride Projects will be supporting up to four members of the Dream Ride Cycling Club or Dream Ride Ultra Cycling Team as they ride the “original” Nightmare Route (perimeter of county at 177 miles) or the new Nightmare Century. Supports Dream Ride Projects.
Dream Ride 9-11 – Sunday September 11. Starts; 9:11AM, Ends 9:11PM. Dream Ride Projects’ Dream Ride Cycling Club and Dream Ride Ultra Cycling Team Members encourage ALL people who ride bicycles to join us as we ride in memory of local First Responders who died In The Line of Duty and for the establishment of a designated 9-11 Memorial Bike Route. Supports Dream Ride Projects and the First Responders Memorial at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center in Salunga.
Bike Millersville and Bike Elizabethtown – Saturday September 17, members of the Dream Ride Cycling Club will be supporting the Bike Better Project as a participating organization in these newly organized events to support Bicycle Friendly efforts in both communities.
